Cool Cows and Climate Change - Information for Dairy Farmers

News and Events

'Welcome to the Cool Cows website for Australian dairy farmers, developed by Dairy Australia with funding support from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and from Dairy Australia.

We trust that you find the information and tools on this website useful.

Weather forecaster

In the hot season, it is important to keep a close eye on expected weather conditions, and consider how these are likely to affect your cows heat load.

The Cool Cows Weather Forecaster tool provides up-to-date heat load information specific to your region, helping you prepare for any potential ‘meltdown’ events in the coming week. We recommend that you use this tool regularly during the hot season (The tool is operative from 1 Oct to 31 March).

Subscribe to our heat stress alert service

A free heat stress alert service is also available to all dairy farmers through the Cool Cows website from 1 Oct to 31 March. This provides subscribers with automatic notification via e-mail or SMS, whenever a period of potentially high or extreme heat stress is forecast in the coming week for a selected location.
